In Rigveda, there is a mention of a queen Named "Vishpala" who lost her leg during a battle.

Surgery was far advanced in the Rigveda era, Therefore it is recorded that Queen Vishpala was fitted with an artificial lower limb when it was severed in a battle. No Doubt we were more advance during Vedic period.

Immediately you gave her a metallic leg, so that she might walk".
Khela was a King and Agastya was his Kul Purohit. Through his prayers the Aswins gave Vispala a metallic leg.
